Background

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an onsite live-in manager to join us in the beautiful South Suffolk countryside to help run the Edwardstone White Horse Inn, also known as the home of Little Earth Project (LEP) brewery which is located next door to the pub.
While the White Horse has been a pub for a number of years in its own right, we have more recently decided to take it under the wing of the Little Earth Project brewery and transform it into an LEP taproom/traditional style wet led pub with probably the most exciting beer selection in rural Suffolk!
The pub itself is broken up into 3 main rooms - a public bar with its own entrance, a lounge bar & the “green room” which was an addition to the original building in 2007. There is a patio area outside the pub as well as a substantial beer garden.

The site benefits from a large camping field, toilet/shower block and 2 self catering holiday cottages. Bookings are managed online and we expect them to be VERY busy this summer.
It is a main aim of ours to serve only beer (and other beverages) from independent breweries which means you won’t find macro lagers on draught here! Instead, there will be a mix of delicious staples alongside rotating taps of local beers on both cask and keg from the likes of local brewers Burnt Mill, Crouch Vale, Ampersand, Adnams and more.

The pub has won a number of green awards over the years as we have our own borehole where we source our water, thermal solar panels which heat the water, and all heating inside the pub is by wood burners (using local coppice wood). LEP regularly uses an assortment of foraged ingredients in our brewing (hedgerow fruits, elderflower) and also has a field just a few miles from the site where we grow our own organic hops.

The Job

We are looking for a manager to run the day to day activities of a vibrant, rural pub. It is a live-in position so is certainly considered more of a “lifestyle” than just a normal job, but in saying that, we want to be sure that there is a definite work/life balance. You will be the first point of contact when a customer visits/contacts the pub and the job will be very much a physical one.
This is a position for one person but due to the rural location, may suit a couple/partnership where the other person has a remote/local job or is interested in more of a part time position.
At the moment, we aren’t looking to fully reopen the kitchen but hope to have a rotating selection of food trucks over the summer with possibly some cold bar snacks/sharing plates. We are open to discussion on future food plans/hires in time.
